Three Traveling Books
Almost to the end of the quarter for the Traveling Book Club I am in. So far this month it’s all been fiction, which right now I am struggling with reading. My mind is so occupied with the events of the world these last months nonfiction is going in much easier. Nevertheless…….
my grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry by Fedrik Backman : Reading along I can see all the women who read this before me very much enjoyed this book as the many underlines and hearts and smile faces written in. I did add some writings as well. For the most part I just could not do this book. I was trepidatious to start it in the first place, the girl is seven and it’s about death and her grandmother, when I was seven my sister died. My grandma for me so many times was my saving grace. Winston Churchill once said, “When going through hell don’t stop and take pictures…..” I don’t think once you’ve been to hell you should revisit it either. So well as I’m sure this book is good for the masses. Not so much for me.
The Readers of the Broken Wheel by Katarina Bivald: When this book came out I really wanted to read it, believe me, I should have read it then, and not waited. The story is good, I love books, and the way it can bring people together or help people. I do this in everyday life. The book is that, and a little like Fried Green Tomatoes or the YAYA Sisterhood. Both stories I love. Unfortunately for me, just not enough depth, right now. I’ll revisit this another time. Like on vacation, or when my mind is more at ease.
Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler is up next……..hoping for a winner……..
