It’s BOOKCON BOOKCLUB DAY!!!!

This book was interesting. The main character, Sal, is trying to figure himself out. He is also trying figure out what family is, and means to him. Who he is because of that, what his actions mean, where his struggles come from, and what happens in times of crisis are all explored.  Sal along with his two friends enter into a year where they must band together in all their crisis that they face individually and together. A lot more about multiple deaths or dead people than I was planning on reading in one book, but I’ve actually witnessed kids with this much crisis in their lives, so I kept reading. ‘Family is what you make it’ is certainly explored. As an adult reading this book, it reminded me of the time when life seems so out of control in high school, and the desire to figure it out and put it all back together neatly so I’d be at peace. Which is the goal in this story as well.  How you got here, the decisions made on your behalf also a theme.

I can not wait for the discussion tonight with my fellow readers. It is definitely a good book for discussion.

Peace.
