The Girl in the Blue Coat

I have read hundreds of books on the Holocaust, mostly nonfiction, but an occasional fiction as well. This book is marketed towards teen readers and as a mystery. So I was intrigued. The book is well done and a good introduction to The Shoah  for teens. I appreciate the real history included at the end by the author and my hope is that this will make the reader want to research and find out more about this time in history.
The character of Hanneke in this book is so well done. You are rooting for her and holding your breath and crying with her. There were hundreds of Hennekes during this time, many who were killed for doing what she did. I am hoping the reality of this story sticks with the reader. My ultimate hope is that the reader sees what this extreme form of prejudice did.

Peace.
