I was so excited to find a play list for this book on Spotify! As we were reading along as a group we could about hear the music as we were reading so were looking up various Samba music and also took suggestions from the news article in NPR.
We finished our discussions this past Sunday afternoon on The Air You Breathe. I had finished the book the previous Sunday having devoured the ending as soon as we finished the previous weeks reading discussion. This book left me feeling very sad for the main character as I do not think she ever got to live her own life. She lived with so very much guilt and regret. She had glimpses and moments that were hers alone but that was all. What a tragedy. What a true friendship is, how you live life, loyalty and love or lack of it are all in this story woven around the Samba. Not having much knowledge of Brazil’s history or music I found myself researching online and in books to learn more. That is the sign of a good read! On to our next read!
