Books placed in France are one of my favorite things to read.
I took the TBR set in France books off my shelves and made a pile to read for February in France. Some were good, some were bad, some I did not get to and will try again next February.
The Perfume Collector was my favourite: strong women characters, wonderful narrative, intriguing story line.
️French milk was the most fun to read! Through delightful drawings, photographs, and musings, twenty-three-year-old Lucy Knisley documents a six-week trip she and her mother took to Paris when each was facing a milestone birthday. With a quirky flat in the fifth arrondissement as their home base, they set out to explore all the city has to offer, watching fireworks over the Eiffel Tower on New Year’s Eve, visiting Oscar Wilde’s grave, loafing at cafés, and, of course, drinking delicious French milk. What results is not only a sweet and savory journey through the City of Light but a moving, personal look at a mother-daughter relationship.
Insiders Paris was WONDERFUL: For years, Elle Decor magazine has been exploring the little-known treasures, luxuries and joie de vivre behind the walls of the French capital. Elle Decor’s Intimate Paris finally reveals the mystery, taking you on an intimate tour of the city to explore each nuance, from the Left Bank to the Right. Abounding with information and anecdotes that only an insider could know, it shows you everything from the apartments of glamorous celebrities to the most secluded Parisian dwellings and personally guide you through cloistered gardens, ancient brasseries, architectural masterpieces and much, much more.
French Chic also fun to see Parisian style of the 80s.
Bohemian Paris was a great read of artist and their nomadic life. An epic account of life and loves among artists and writers in Paris from belle epoque to world slump.” “It will captivate both serious and casual readers. Marvellous and informative.”
️Peter Mayles books I’ve not gotten to yet, it’s not looking like I will make it this February to reading them. So on the shelf they stay. If I’ve not mention it and it’s pictured, I didn’t like it. Either too dark, too dull, to dry, too fluffy, however they no longer- other than the three Mayle books -occupy space in my library and now most of them live temporarily until sold at the local used bookstore . Three went to friends. On to March I go!!
