This book is both hard to put down, and hard to take in. Although written for teens, and has a love story, this book is so much more. It takes place in 1959 Virginia. Civil rights, two girls on opposite sides of the battle. This is an extremely relevant today type book. It should be a must read for any high schooler. I will be purchasing this book to hand out, it’s that good. The courage shown to endure such hatred, it just takes your breath away. Check it out at your local library, buy a used copy on Amazon. Read it, it will motivate you, I hope, to keep up the good fight of making sure everyone is treated equal.
