Tea with Butter and Bread

Some tea with Grandbaby Hippie this afternoon as it is all half days this week at school…exams for 6-12… blech.

I have many old Betty Crocker cookbooks from my Grandma. I adore them as I adored her. So many good easy simple ingredient recipes. Pictured is White Nut bread, however I add no nuts (too many allergy peeps in my family) and I add a tablespoon or so of fresh honey and use butter in place of oil or shortening. YUM. It is very soothing to have bread with butter. Many of these cookbooks have table settings, meal plans and nutrition ideas that are very smart. The dress up and for your husband’s boss pages -notsomuch. Take what is good, leave the rest.

Reading Chloe Gong is just mind blowing. Making prompts today from my notes for our discussion tomorrow. The worlds created are amazing. The in-depth of her using Shakespeare, true history and happenings in a fantasy novel are just so very smart. We are in book two of a three book series Flesh and False Gods.

Anna Karenina. Oh Anna. How terrible one’s mind is to one when we don’t feel safe or valued or loved. So very heartbreaking. Although truly not a love story, but a narrative about Russia: it’s affect on Anna and all the lives mentioned and the cause and effect on real people. What happens when women are trapped with no resources or rights. To be reading this now is a bit on the nose. It is written beautifully, it is just so horrifically sad.

Fun WALMART find for my VirginiaBloomsberries reading this year.

My Sunday Buddy Read is just WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW. Talk about foreshadowing in real life… This is written well, it is just difficult to read emotionally. A part of the war not talked about a lot. Knowledge is always power but sometimes it stings a bit.

With that ………I’m off to read Les Mis.
