The Wild Robot

The Wild Robot by Peter Brown

This is an amazing book. Some have compared it to Charlotte’s Web, I can see the reasons for the comparisons, the Robot meets animals and learns lessons just like in the book Charlotte’s Web.  The reason I personally liked this book is that it is written very well. It is very alluring for kids. The art is fantastic. The story keeps kids entertained and wanting more. Kids will want to see what will happen next to this robot who is trying to figure out what to do to survive.  The underlining lessons of  ‘it’s okay to be different’, how family works, how to adapt and many more lessons make it a must read for third through fifth grade. The story is done in an amazing fashion.  I wanted to read this before my son read it due to some reviews saying it was dark in spots. I came to the conclusion, after reading the story, that it’s true to life and real. It is an appropriate read for third to seventh grade, as it is rated. Read it with your child. Good discussion starter. I think this would be an awesome classroom read as well.  Girls and boys will love this. I know my robot loving child does.

Book On.

Peace.
