Traveling Book Club

Sunday Meeting Day

Sunday was the day to meet and set off six books into traveling!! We also discussed ALL the previous books and had some yummy chili and delicious brownies!

We will be reading the following.

Art Of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker: I’ve read this book TWICE so I will probably just browse through it. It’s a wonderful read. A beautifully written love story, that is brutal to read at times. Kleenex box needed a time or two.

The Mighty Queens of Freeville by Amy Dickinson: I am looking forward to reading this. It’s a true story, which is my favorite (nonfiction) about Ask Amy.

Peace Like A River by Leif Enger: Told from the perspective of a little boy, it is compared to To Kill a Mockingbird. That being said, my interest is piqued.

Light on Snow by Anita Shreve: A story about finding a baby in the snow, a daughter and her recently widowed father. Supposedly a lighter fare to read. The warm fuzzy type. We shall see.

I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson: “Meeting your soul mate is like walking into a house you’ve been in before – you will recognize the furniture, the pictures on the wall, the books on the shelves, the contents of drawers: You could find your way around in the dark if you had to.” The New York Times Bestselling story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal. I’m looking forward to seeing what all the HYPE is about. I hear this book is FANTASTIC.

A Night Divided by Jennifer A Nielsen: A stunning thriller about a girl who must escape to freedom after the Berlin Wall divides her family between east and west. With the rise of the Berlin Wall, twelve-year-old Gerta finds her family divided overnight. I love reading about this time in history.

SO. Off to read I go. Updates will follow.

Peace.
