Eleanor Roosevelt
No idea who did this to her statue, but I think it’s accurate! I started a book club five years ago. The Autobiography of Eleanor Roosevelt was our first pick out of our Read it and Eat it book. I ended up making her famous egg recipe that she cooked on Sunday nights in the White House, flourless brownies (rations) and jello as suggested by what was eaten during that time. She was not known for cooking. I am, but can definitely not make a jello mold! After reading this amazing take on her own life, I continued to research more about her and recently picked up the new release Eleanor and Hick from the library and can’t wait to start. I think Eleanor was an extraordinarily strong woman. I learned a ton from reading her book. Our discussion time with women of all ages, faiths and ethnicity was so good. Most of us admired her so, one did not. Although I do not personally agree with all her political ideas, she was a tireless activist for human rights, civil rights and women rights.
On Day Without A Woman some women in my small town are meeting in the park over lunch with their favorite book written by and about a woman. I intend to bring this book along with the library book.
Peace.
