The Mammy by Brendan O’Carroll

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Here’s a good Irish Story for you!

The Mammy is by far the funniest book I’ve ever read for book club. I laughed out loud so many times reading this book and even almost fell out of bed once in hysterics! A Widow in Dublin, Ireland in the 1960s trying to raise SEVEN children. The wit and all the many colorful characters and descriptive narrative hook you so quickly you can not put the book down.

Since reading the book I found out it is also a movie starring Anjelica Houston, so I am on the hunt to find it to watch!

There are two more books in this series: The Chisellers and The Granny, but The Mammy is my favorite. What a riot! It’s a very short book and you can read it in an afternoon or night! I highly recommend it!

Peace.
