The Education of Margot Sanchez
I first ‘heard’ of this book by seeing the cover constantly on bookstagram on instagram and thinking ‘she has my hair!!’ She does. So I put it on hold at the library and waited for my turn to read it. I don’t tend to read reviews so I had no idea it was TEEN or young adult book, which is fine. I usually really enjoy this genre. I was not disappointed. I read this over a couple days time because it was so much fun. It reminded me a little bit of my beloved Judy Blume, if she were writing a book like Tiger Eyes, Deenie, or Forever in todays time. The feeling is the same. It also reminded me of so many coming of age 1980s movies. I just love it! I believe young people are going to as well. The book is very well written and the story feels real, not made up. You can hear Margot’s voice as you are reading along and you fall in love with her character! It is wonderful to have diversity in a book for teens, especially one so well written. I will be purchasing this book to keep and give away. It is so important to ‘see’ yourself in a book. We need more of this.
