Independent Bookstore Day 2017

SATURDAY IS COMING

Independent Bookstore Day is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April.  Every store is unique and independent, and every party is different. But in addition to authors, live music, cupcakes, scavenger hunts, kids events, art tables, readings, barbecues, contests, and other fun stuff, there are exclusive books and literary items that you can only get on that day. Not before. Not after. Not online.

I am mapping out my plan and gearing up for Saturday, which is, Independent Bookstore Day. I am excited to see the one day special offers only buys and also it is always so much fun to be in crowds of people similarly excited about books. We plan to do the very few bookstores in town and then maybe head out to the town over and check out some of those fun stores.

One of our local bookstores is a like visiting family, they serve you coffee and a treat and talk about what’s going on in your life and theirs, and introduce you to others that are shopping or browsing and talking. It’s a wonderful little community to be in. Makes my heart smile.

So IF you are out and about on Saturday, wherever you are, stop in at an Independent bookstore. Buy a book or a tote, meet some new people, support your local economy.

Peace.
