Some ARC reading

I actually prefer reading books in Advanced Reader Copy form. Uncorrected proof can sometimes have more in it than the original book. Recently my best bibliophile friend received a massive amount of ARC for her Little Free Library. So we each picked a stack to read, review and then put in the library for others to enjoy! The following pictured books are the little stack I have read so far.

The STACK

Black Rabbit Hall. This is a gothic dark fairy tale mystery, sort of! Because I really do not like mysteries, but I did like this book! The house is really the main character of the book in my opinion. It’s about two women decades apart and all the drama and secrets of family. On a side note this is the first time I have seen my friend Lorna’s name in a book! Pick it up, it is an enjoyable adventure.

American War. This is NOT my type of book AT ALL. It’s also scary if you think too much reading it. Thankfully it’s a little more far-fetched than the current political climate, but it is so eerily close that is makes you very uncomfortable reading it! Post apocalyptic dystopian type read that will definitely make one think. Woe.

Swimming Lessons! I was wanting to read this book. The hold line at the library waaaay to long for my taste and I didn’t really want to purchase it until after I read it. I heard mixed reviews from people who had received this as a book of the month club book. I liked this story. The answers to the questions of why Ingrid the wife disappears are all in letters hidden through out her husbands library books. Thousands of library books……She writes the truth about their marriage and leaves after the last letter is written.  The writing of this book is very good. The story guts you though. Enjoy.

If not for insomnia this would not have been read. I decided to try it out. It’s a thriller for sure, so I stretched my mind a bit to a different genre. It starts very very slowly, so keep with it a bit if you want to finish. So-so read. Eh. Not my cup of tea. The River at Night.

If you liked GONE GIRL read this. A marriage gone terribly wrong. Also this has happened in real life various times, which is what the book reads like: a sensational court case. The Case of Lisandra P.

Back to my current read of How to Survive a Plague.

PEACE.
