The Dollhouse by Fiona Davis

JUST STARTED THIS LOVELY

Fiona Davis’s stunning debut novel pulls readers into the lush world of New York City’s glamorous Barbizon Hotel for Women, where in the 1950s a generation of aspiring models, secretaries, and editors lived side by side while attempting to claw their way to fairy-tale success, and where a present-day journalist becomes consumed with uncovering a dark secret buried deep within the Barbizon’s glitzy past.

This book was very interesting and in the end really very sweet.

I always wonder passing old buildings who lived there, what were their lives like back a hundred years ago, or even 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 years ago. The old buildings with amazing architecture and warmth, if only the walls could talk. What would they say?

The going back in forth in time  in this book was fun and all the characters were lovable. The line between their lives was written very well.  The ending was tied up nicely in a pretty bow. Every once and a while for me, that’s a gift.

Wonderful read! I look forward to her upcoming book The Address.

Fiona Davis, author of The Dollhouse, returns with a compelling novel about the thin lines between love and loss, success and ruin, passion and madness, all hidden behind the walls of The Dakota, New York City’s most famous residence.

Peace.
