I’m working my way though PART I, almost to PART II. The gender roles portrayed make me want to throw the book. I fully realize when it was written. I also am more and more thankful for women who fought for my right to vote, own property, see a doctor alone, chose who I marry and on and on. I believe Scarlett probably would have preferred to be a man, just to have his rights. Left with no choice she uses what she has to try to make a life she prefers. On a funny side I watch Golden Girls before bed at night some nights. One morning this week after falling asleep to Golden Girls and waking up to coffee and reading Gone With The Wind I laughed right out loud! Blanche makes so much more sense. She really is truly the southern belle! I think a fun gift would be a season of the show with the book. True enjoyment!
