My Mother’s Kitchen-Laugh, Cry, Cook!

I HAVE FINISHED!

I was SOBBING. This book was such a delicious read, no pun intended. There was so much about food and relationships and love, it was all so familiar, like a favorite blanket. The mention of root beer floats reminded me of my grandma who called them Black Cows, she would have one at midnight with M & Ms and cheese popcorn. She was quite the night owl. She made the best baked beans I have ever eaten in my life. I never have been able to top them. I think she put a little magic in them. I still use her recipes and make her meatloaf. This book brought back so many memories for me. The book is a wonderful love letter to the author’s mom! I laughed right out loud only to sob a few paragraphs later! The descriptions of food and the recipes are just a GIFT. There is love just pouring from the pages. I am so excited to try to attempt those recipes!  What an amazing story of some amazing folks, who do food and life as it should be done.

I highly recommend reading this! Especially if you are a foodie.

Bon Appetit
