G is for Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales

They are the stories we’ve known since we were children. RapunzelHansel and GretelCinderellaSleeping Beauty. But the works originally collected by the Brothers Grimm in the early 1800s are not necessarily the versions we heard before bedtime. They’re darker and often don’t end very happily, but they’re often far more interesting. Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales includes all our cherished favorites—Snow WhiteRumpelstiltskinLittle Red Cap, and many more in their original versions. Many of these tales begin with the familiar refrain of “once upon a time”—but they end with something unexpected and fascinating!

I started reading these Fairy Tales: one or two a day and am fascinated by how much darker and truer to life these are. I actually enjoy them much more than the Disney adaptations. I do NOT usually read ‘happy lala’ fluff so these tales have been a lot of fun to read! I am so glad I put this in my A to Z Classic Reads challenge for the year! I recommend reading a tale of two. It is very enlightening!

Peace.
