AH Macbeth, a favorite Shakespeare of mine. The reread of this classic favorite made me view Lady Macbeth differently. I had always pictured her as the most evil participant. The witches are my favorite still! Lady Macbeth, however, seemed weaker. She appeared much more pathetic and actually other than her first spurring of Macbeth to commit murder, was not much of an evil.
Reading Shakespeare as a buddy read-a-long has been very educational. All the insight has been just wonderful. The pace is good and all levels of knowledge blended together make for perfect discussion points. I look forward to our reads every single time!
Lady Macbeth:
Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be
What thou art promis’d. Yet do I fear thy nature,
It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness
To catch the nearest way.
Lady Macbeth:
How now, my lord, why do you keep alone,
Of sorriest fancies your companions making,
Using those thoughts which should indeed have died
With them they think on? Things without all remedy
Should be without regard: what’s done, is done.
On we read!
A Winter’s Tale is next.
