Les Miserables January

#READLESMIS2020 Month ONE

One month finished! I am loving the read a chapter a day. This book has so far been just beautiful. Way more than I expected. I have also grabbed my Bible more times than I thought I would. I am grateful for the schedule and ever grateful for the print out. IF I fall behind I can easily catch up! I am also very glad I decided to keep notes. So much goes on that I want to be able to remember and I think it will help with our first discussion in March.

The following are favorite quotes or passages I have written down for the month:

“Her whole life had simply been a succession of good deeds, had ultimately confirmed on her a sort of paleness and brightness, and with advancing years she had gained what might be called the beauty of goodness.”

“He did not preach as much as chat in parables to show social justice.”

“Speaking everyone’s language he found his way into everyone’s soul.”

“It is WRONG to be so deeply absorbed in divine law that you become unaware of human law. Death depends on God alone. By what right do men meddle with this matter of destiny”

“Ecclesiastes names thee Almighty, the Maccabees name thee Creator, the Epistle to the Ephesians names thee Freedom, Baruch names thee Immensity, the Psalms name thee Wisdom and Truth, John names thee Light, the Book of Kings names thee Lord, Exodus names thee Providence, Leviticus Sanctity, Esdras Justice, creation names thee God, man names thee Father; but Solomon names thee MERCY, which is the most beautiful of all thy names.”

“The most beautiful alters is the soul of one comforted in their distress who thanks God.”

“Prejudices are the real robbers let’s be mindful of what endangers our soul.”

“Dixitque Deus fiat lux et facta lux est!”

“He believed as much as he could” “I believe in the FATHER”

“THEREFORE I tell you her many sins have been forgiven, FOR SHE LOVED MUCH”
Luke 7:47

“He did not study God, he yielded to the radiance of God”

“What Illuminated this man was his heart. His wisdom was constituted of the light that comes from there.”

“BUT HE TOOK THE SHORTER PATH: THE GOSPEL.”

“Love one another. He declared this to be WHOLLY sufficient, wished for nothing more and herein lay his ENTIRE doctrine.”

On to February I go!
