I was not a fan of this book the first go round, alas it did make for good discussion the second go round and also gave insight to trauma for some who had no clue. In the end I am glad these women got their stories told. I do hope this was the start of healing for them and that they have worked toward more healing.
One of my main problems with this book was the marketing. It should have been marketed as a book about sexual trauma. All of these women experienced abuse of many different kinds but all experienced sexual abuse. I do also wish the author had resources in the epilogue for women to reach out to if need be.
The writing of the book was difficult and it was so detailed in some sections that I hope were for us to see the extent and not purely for a salacious purpose.
I hope that some good can come from publishing this book. If only for the women to tell their story, or someone to say me too.
