Les Miserables May

I very much enjoy reading about how the nuns lived in these past Les Mis sections. It is wonderful. The history of these particular nuns is fascinating to me. May’s reading started with the subtitle GLADNESS, describing little girls laughing and giggling in the sunshine while playing. This was interesting to read right now as we are in quarantine, COVID 19 and social unrest everywhere. To read about this idyllic scene was a little bit of joy to picture in my mind. I did not have as many quotes this month, but I had these few. I am really getting a stride again reading this, and loving it so.

The cross remains steady while the world turns.

His heart melted through and through in gratitude and became ever more loving.

The gamin loves this city. Having something of the sage in him, he also loves solitude.

…..poppies in their hair, cheerful, frenetic, barefoot.

June reading has begun and I can’t believe that at months end I will have been at this for six months.
