Shakespeare ReadALong recap 2021

I read an act of Shakespeare a week with my fellow Shakespearean readers. We have just finished year four!

This year we read ~

Henry VI parts I, II, III
All’s Well That Ends Well
Measure for Measure
Richard III
Romeo & Juliet
Pericles

Although I found new appreciation for Romeo & Juliet, Richard III was my absolute favorite.

Our weekly discussions are the highlight of my week.

On we go to 2022.

William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s greatest dramatist. He is often called England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon”.
Jealous and crippled, Richard of Gloucester wants to be King of England and uses manipulation and deceit to achieve his goal. He murders his brothers, nephews, and any opposition to become King Richard III. In the end, Henry of Richmond raises an army, kills Richard in battle, and becomes King Henry VII.
The Shakespeare Richard III and the real Richard III are both fascinating. I read some amazing books on it pictured here. I may keep digging in the future as history keeps revealing new findings on Richard III.
